Haha...I think that it is impossible to get 8 hours of uninterrupted rest when you have a baby or toddler. So either new parents are superheroes or the human body is designed to be able to withstand at least a few years of much lower sleep levels. A newborn needs to eat every 2-4 hours, so if everyone got 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep, then all babies would starve!

CDO: Did everyone have 7 hours of uninterrupted rest?
Recruits: Yes sir.
CDO: Did anyone have symptoms of cough, flu, fever, or diarrhea in the past 12 hours? If so, sound off now.
Recruits: No sir.

Hard to always have 7 or 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep nowadays. Specially if you would need to work for 8 hours, commute for 4 hours (going to office and coming home), prepare to go to work for 1 hour including eating breakfast, eat 1 hour for lunch (not included in 8 working hours and if there will be overtime), 1 hour for dinner, do households for several hours and your neighbor is too noisy at late night. LOL

When I don't get at least 8 hours of sleep I can't focus correctly the next day. Even with caffeine I feel sleepy and disorientated. Sometimes I can get away with one night of 5 or 6 hours of sleep, but the rest of week I'll have to get at least 8 or I become pretty useless.

If I was to get an average of the hours I sleep in a day for the whole week, then nit will be 6 good hours. The god thing is when I sleep, I don't get interruptions so i sleep well. Its hard to sleep 8 hours unless one doesn't have a life and a family.

I think it's hard for a lot of people to get a full 8 hours of sleep. Like others have said, distractions in life get in the way of our sleep. Some people stay up late to do work also. With the early wake up time for many, they would have to practically go to bed as soon as they get in from work to get a full 8 hours.
