Will running backwards on a treadmill in a YouTube video get Owen Hargreaves a club?
FORMER Manchester United star Owen Hargreaves is making headlines in England for his creation of a YouTube channel designed to showcase his physical fitness as he desperately searches for a new club.
The 30-year-old midfielder, who spent the majority of his career with German giant Bayern Munich, has been out of contract since leaving Old Trafford at the end of last season.
In the daily videos, Hargreaves is seen going through various drills on the paddock as well as performing a range of exercises in the gym, including running backwards on a treadmill.
The move is reminiscent of action taken by his former teammate Michael Owen, who in 2009 sent a 32-page brochure to teams outlining his talents after his contract expired at Newcastle.
Hargreaves moved from Bayern to United in 2007 for £17 million ($27M) but made just 39 appearances in four years as he struggled with injuries - the most crippling being tendinitis in his knees that threatened to end his career.
