Deep squat

Some people are starting to lose the ability to squat deep, especially those who live/grew up in developed parts of the world or in the west. I'm sure you've heard the saying; "If you don't use it, you lose it". The ability to squat deep is one of the natural abilities a human body should be capable of doing. After all, it's a position you're naturally suppose to get into, when you need to answer nature's call. Apart from that, our bodies are also naturally designed to be in that position to do ground tasks, rest, etc.

If you are not able to deep squat properly yet, start working on it now. It will help you with a lot of things. You can start by working on your mobility to squat deep. To build up, you can start off by placing small weight plates at your heels to raise them. This will help get you to squat into the deeper position. Now squat down with those weight plates beneath your heels, and let your body rest at the bottom position of the squat. Hold it for about 30s. As you gradually build up flexibility, you can increase the duration of holding your deep squat position in a relaxed manner, and reduce the number of plates beneath your heels. Build up till you can squat all the way comfortably and holding the position while staying relaxed.
