While planking has you lying face down in an unusual location, owling requires you to crouch down on an equally unexpected place, and stare like an owl. Photos are usually taken of both practices and uploaded onto the Internet. In fact, owling has become so popular on social media sites like Facebook and Tumblr that fan pages of the practice have been created, attracting more than a thousand people within a few weeks. Fans snap photos of themselves and friends owling in increasingly ridiculous places in an attempt to outdo each other.
