How Much Water Should I Drink?

3 Feb 2013
The typical advice for how much water you should drink in a day is eight 8 eight-ounce glasses a day -- 64 ounces. But that advice may be outdated. And most people are not drinking nearly enough.

One size-fits-all recommendation for water consumption doesn't make sense when you consider that adults vary greatly in weight and activity levels. Even the amount of water one person needs can change depending on where you live, the time of year and what you're doing.

The new rule of thumb is to take your weight and divide it in half. That is theminimumnumber of ounces of healthy, filtered water that you should drink every day, not counting other liquids.
