I read these tips in a natural health journal and thought to give it a quick share. You probably ALREADY know this, but sometimes it is good to be reminded...

1. An abundance of plant foods
2. More fiber
3. Fewer animal fats and more good fats, such as olive, flax and/or fish oils
4. Less salt
5 Fewer processed foods containing refined sugar and trans fats

That's it folks, in a nutshell.

I already had started cutting salt and sugar in my daily intake. And also I am avoiding processed foods since it usually contains preservatives or ingredients that might not be totally safe for us. Specially if we consumed it in a regular basis. Agree that better increase fiber intake that we could get from consuming fruits and vegetables.

Definitely some good basic tips. I think the problem comes in that many people don't know how to carry out these things. There isn't a lot of info available on what foods are healthy and high in fiber, for example. And most people don't realize that they are getting far, far less fiber than recommended.

That is true, many people are not aware of what they are eating - it is quite interesting to see how many people do not even read labels. I think people are generally too trusting, I know was but we have to look after our health. If one generally goes for whole foods and the less refined and natural they are the more likely it has lots of fiber. But yeah, it is a process...ultimately, comes down to survival of the fittest I guess.

This is a good suggestion. Processed foods are often the best option in people living in the city. Sodium packed canned goods usually served if there is no enough time to nose around the kitchen. We usually have home cooked meals everyday. We have kids at home so we need to lessen the salt in every dish we cooked. The problem in my area are the fruits. The store is really far and going and back in forth in the market is a bit costly in terms of gas.
