Pregnancy workout?

Hi, all,

My husband and I are trying to conceive again, and I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for ways to modify a workout during pregnancy. During my last pregnancy, I did yoga and a little walking, but I gained forty pounds (which thankfully came off afterward). I wasn't very proactive about fitness last time. This time I'd like to be in better shape. Obviously nothing overboard, and the motivation isn't necessarily to gain less weight, but to feel better during the pregnancy and labor and to bounce back easily afterward.

Thanks!

Walking is number one, light stretching after warm up is 2nd. LOL. Its not strenuous and less likely to injure ankles or your knees. Stretching will help you regarding relaxing or muscle strain, and help you ease back pains. :D A good exercise will be one that will enable you to inhale and exhale well. LOL. As the baby will need enough oxygen to breathe. Fluids, drink good amount of fluids everyday. Must avoid squats exercise though, not healthy. As pitdog suggested above, it would be best to talk to your doctor regarding the exercise program you should engage yourself in.

How is squats not healthy?? Perhaps it may not be an optimal exercise to do when you are pregnant. But I don't see how is it not healthy =\
Unless she had squats in her workout even before she was pregnant it won't pose much of a problem. But according to some information I've read somewhere, its been a while since I've read the material, they don't suggest squats for pregnant women, placenta related reason. Forgot exactly what. LOL :p

Light cardio would be good. Avoid things that tax your body too much. I won't want to risk any injuries!

Thanks a lot for your responses! I love walking, but I was not very disciplined about it during my first pregnancy, so I did not do it very consistently. I will definitely try to commit to it more fully this time. That picture is amazing!

Any sort of light exercises would certainly be the best, nothing too taxing on your body.
