Discuss Pregnant and proud at the age of 15

STOMPer Hello There says this 15-year-old girl has been posting status updates on Facebook about her pregnancy.

The STOMPer wrote:

"15-year-old girl bragging about being pregnant? I mean i dont really see a need to do so.​

"Firstly she does not think that its disgraceful. Secondly she is just a minor, and is she proving that she had sexual intercourse with a guy at age 15?​

"Well I don't really assume she starting have sexual activities at age 15, maybe younger than that, what has become of Singaporean teenage girls? Being boastful about their indecent acts?​

"The best part is that she is a smoker and who knows what age she started smoking. The rule in Singapore's Act 377A (Act of Outrage of Decency) states that there should not be any sexual activities happening to minors below age 16.​

"Her friends even encouraged her to take care of the baby and herself.​

"She started to act pitiful about having the baby with the guy and endeds up so-called 'threatening the guy that he will go to prison' if he doesn't make a decision.​

"What are parents thinking nowadays? Allowing their daughter marry at age 15? The law should step in for this.​

"Teenagers and her friends are encouraging her to take care of the baby herself and her husband . I don't think that this good, what she really needs is a wake-up call to stop being so childish and mature up."​

I feel sorry for the baby- a smoking mother does so much damage to the baby and there is no way to reverse it after birth. she has no idea what she is in for- and nor does the guy. If he does marry her, I'm sure he will divorce her within a few years. This girl desperately needs some counseling and a reality check. A baby is not all fun and games- the rewards are amazing, but the sacrifices and hard work are usually far more than a 15 year old can handle- especially one as immature as this girl. She seems to love the IDEA of a baby, but I hope she finds it in her heart to love the real baby and do what is necessary to be a good parent.

I guess if she can't take care of the baby or finds the baby a hassle, she can always dump the baby on her parents. I think if I were her parents, I would take the baby away from her and adopt it.

I'm a Singaporean but have been living in Malaysia for the past 15 years so I've lost touch with the current situation in Singapore except for the news that I read. I didn't know the morality of teenagers in Singapore is equivalent to that of teenagers in the US. In the US, girls pressure one another to have sex as soon as they reach 10. It's very difficult to be a parent nowadays. Fortunately, in Malaysia the morality of teenagers are not that bad but I feel it will be heading in the same direction unless parents take a more pro-active approach in raising their children.

I hope she should consider the health of her unborn baby and stop smoking.And I do really hope her parents should do something about it and guide her on a better path of her life. She was still so young and she was irresponsible letting herself have sex and be pregnant on such age. Wake up call for her and her parents.

This reminds me of those girls in the show "Maury" about how much they want to have babies for themselves and are determined to get it.

About the friends encouraging her to take care of the baby and herself, what's the problem with it? She seems willing to take up the responsibility of having a child - let her experience it. I have former classmates that got pregnant at 16/17 (not really sure as to when they had it) and they all had to take full responsibility over the child. I've seen some of the children in person and in photos, and they've grown pretty well. I'm not sure about this one though, a smoker? She isn't even properly taking care of the fetus inside her because she smokes. I wouldn't be surprised if the baby has defects or deficiencies when it comes out.

The age is getting younger for pregnant mother nowadays. A lot of youth are getting comfortable with consensual sex. Well, I wish she quit smoking for the sake of her baby and for herself. It's not easy to be a mother.
