We take Alpha Lipoic Acid to regulate blood sugar. Another blood sugar regulator is cinnamon. I try to sprinkle it in cereal, my homemade granola and often just add it to things I am cooking. In small amounts the flavor does not dominate soups or sauces.

I also use cinnamon in my breakfast, especially if I am having oats as I find it very delicious. There is a large body of research backing up the theory that cinnamon regulates blood sugar and can even play an active role in combating diabetes.

I would like to add the micro-nutrient, Chromium, here. I have read about it in many books and heard about it at talks. Apparently, Chromium as a supplement plays a huge role in balancing blood sugar and you can tell if you are lacking in it if you tend to get a craving for something sweet after a meal. This is what food guru. Patrick Holford says.

Also, according to statistics, almost all overweight people are lacking chromium. I have not supplemented with chromium but I DO faithfully take my cinnamon. I will try chromium some time in the future...

I have no idea cinnamon can help control your blood glucose... Hmmm.. Will try and reccommend that to my mom. I'm only aware of Apples and Almonds. My mom regularly eat apples as well as drink Apple Juice. The Apple Juice is a must have for her gall stones, she refused to undergo any operation so.. Apple Juice eases her pain.

She eats the apple with its skin on. She also exercise from time to time, especially a week after being discharged from the hospital.

My mom also make use of garlic and Onions as some ings to help her control her blood glucose.

I am also not aware that cinnamon could help regulate blood sugar and nice to really know it in here. Since it was hard to avoid consuming foods that transform into glucose just like white rice as our staple food. At least better to know some ingredients/foods that could regulate it.
And also bitter gourd/bitter melon is a vegetable that could help regulate blood sugar.

I have a hard time consuming cinnamon because I have a slightly allergy to it, but I am looking for blood sugar control because I have hypoglycemia. I wonder if I could take it in a capsule to mitigate the effects it has on my mouth and throat.

I like using cinnamon for breakfast. I hadn't thought of adding it to soups and other dishes. I'm never really sure how much is needed. I also started taking 1 capsule a day that is cinnamon. It gives me heartburn though after about half-an-hour. I think I'll try adding it to more dishes. The capsule is just too strong for me.

I like adding cinnamon to things as a blood-sugar regulating aid. I had not heard about ALA for the same reason, though. I'll have to try that one, too.
