I really enjoy walking in the park even I am alone and it could be a good exercise specially brisk walking. I like sight seeing (nature) and parks have good natural reserved on certain corner/part of it. And it is even much enjoyable when done with the family and friends since we could have picnic, do biking and play sports like badminton.

Although I could say that I also enjoy strolling in the mall since there are lots of stalls and views there but still, I appreciate the outside ambiance more.

Which one do you prefer more?

Strolling in the mall. The aircon plays an important role due to the hot weather here =X

It would depend on the mood. Walking in the park can be really relaxing - away from the hustle and bustle of the city area. But I seldom walk in the park just for the sake of exercising. Most of the time I would run around the park as I dont really like running on treadmills. Right now there are plenty of new 'park connectors" springing up around Singapore.. makes it easier and more convenient to run in parks.

Since we live near proper of down town it is easy to walk around parks, malls and other establishments. We have 3 parks near our home, hotels, a lot of malls/business buildings and we're near the sea as well. I used to walk from our house to parks and malls. I liked going around these parks 4x a week when I have time, and inhale fresh air and stay fit. Looking back at those times, it was one of the healthiest time of my life. However, some of my cousins hated the idea of walking even for just a couple of blocks, they'd rather spend money for the fare than sweat just a little bit. Now, I seldom walk or brisk walk during the morning in one of the nearest park near the sea but I still have a workout schedule, even when I'm in the office. :( But sometimes, I just don't have the time anymore.

You are really lucky to have such location near parks and the sea. ;)
I do really enjoy walking in the park but I just seldom do it since I still need to commute or travel to reach the park here. It will not be enjoyable to walk just in our community since it had polluted air coming from lots of vehicles running near our houses.

I spend an hour or so walking to and from college, since starting i lost a fair bit of weight just from the small amount of time spent walking daily.

I remember my college days when I need to walk long distance from the train station to the campus. I have no choice but to walk since a taxi would be costly, but definitely I benefited from it cause it makes me healthy and active. I even do not feel tired walking such distance before. ;)

I read in a journal that there have been studies that show that walking at a certain pace for a certain period of time a certain number of times a week can actually extend an older person's life by a remarkable number of years. I cannot give exact numbers right now but it is really promising for the older population, in particular. Or those that are starting out...

Simple walking should not be under-estimated!

I prefer walking outside even in the heat and humidity... I grew up in a tropical climate though, so maybe that is why I don't mind it so much...

I love walking outside and don't really ever walk indoors in a mall or other setting. Even when the weather is bad I love getting fresh air and seeing the sights of the trees and small animals. Exploring is a great way to exercise without getting bored or seeing the same thing over and over again.

I am the kind of person who can't walk without a purpose. I know this about myself. I have one speed and that is "go, go, go." I like to run and feel much more invigorated than if I walk. I also struggle with yoga. Maybe this is exactly why I should do it?
